Welcome to JGK Designs.  Welcome to the unique world of woven art.  I have lived and woven in the Caribbean, the United States, and Kenya.  My joy in creating woven art flows over into consulting and working with groups worldwide.

Enjoy articles on traditional weaving in Kenya.   Learn about weaving communities in Kenya and highlights of my involvement in weaving with the people wherever I live by reading my Blog or going to the Outreach section.   Gain insights into what is involved in creating selected pieces of art by clicking on the Art tab.

Welcome.

 Recent Happenings

The Weaver’s Guild of Greater Baltimore just published their book: Sixty Scarves for 60 Years.  The sales of this book have been great and the monies go to nonprofit causes.   Those of us, who wove a scarf for this book, participated in a random scarf exchange at the January 2010 meeting. WGGB members have been supportive of my work in Kenya with weavers and spinners here. Lanna Ray, a WGGB member, arranged through her friend Susan in Washington State, the donation of a spinning wheel to Njabini Woolspinning Workshop. On our way back to Kenya through Germany, Herrn and Frau Friedrich gave me a donation for Beacon of Hope. Talk about globalization! Each person how helps, even a little bit, really makes a difference in the quality of life of the beneficiaries here.
